 Raja Rao's is first novel Kanthapura  1938 , is the story of a village in south India his name is kanthapura .

                           Raja Rao's  was born in 8 November 1908 he was died 8 July 2006 was an Indian writer of English language novels and short stories and his work he is child of the Gandhi an age reveals in his work his sensitive awareness and he force  let easy by the Gandhi an revolution as also of studying pull of past traditional. deeply rooted by Hinduism. his work like The Serpent and the Rope 1960 and A semi- autobiographical novel recollect a search for spiritual truth in Europe and India ,then established him as one of the finest Indian prose stylists and won him the " Sahitya  Academy Award" in 1964.

                     In kanthapura he chose the oralnarrative patterns , the serpent and rope in full of musing and discussion that it lose the structural fiction.  The cat and Shakespeare breaks all rules and puzzles the reader as to genre which in belongs .
